BACKGROUND
The client wanted to improve their dated technology, so they invested in making innovation their core focus among all of their digital products and solutions. The biggest problem that they were encountering was that there were no 3rd party solutions that they could utilize, and as a result they decided to build a new platform from the ground up with the main goal of great usability and simplifying the exhaustive audit process.
ROLE
Lead Product Strategist & UX Designer
User Research, Interaction, Visual design, Prototyping & Testing
My Role
I was on a team of five people, each with our own epics and features to work on. I was placed in leading three teams that handled separate areas within the platform. It was my responsibility to make sure that from start to finish, the user's experience would be smooth and consistent regardless of their role or level. In addition to that, some of my solutions were so well received that I was placed in charge of leading the complete redesign of the client's digital style guide that would eventually be distributed internationally as their core branding.
The Result
One of the biggest lessons I learned throughout this project was that there will never be "one solution" for the UX journey. I tried so hard to make every aspect of the platform consistent, that I often became mentally blocked on how to make one component work in a totally different area, that had completely different use cases. From this, I was able to adapt and create foundational patterns that could have defined deviations based off of requirements, as well as how it performed during user testing. This encouraged me to be more agile and focus on the importance in taking the time to do research, wireframe, and test prototypes before developing.
